  • Hello, I’m Jen. I am a Transformational Life Coach, Breathwork Coach and Mountain Bike Guide, supporting people on a personal development journey on and off the bike.

    I currently live in north Scotland, close to some of the most stunning coastlines, seductive mountains and mixed woodlands. I love the outdoors and spend most of my spare time mountain biking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, hiking, wild swimming or beach walks . I also love travelling and have explored many countries around the world. Connecting with nature has always enhanced my wellbeing and I am keen to share this passion through personal development coaching in different ways.

    My aim is simple: to inspire and empower you to create a vibrant and fulfilled life you truly love and deserve.

  • Qualifications

    I am a qualified transformational life coach with the Advanced Certificate in Coaching Practice (ACCP) accredited by the Association for Coaching (AC); I am a certified breath coach (Yoga Body); I have a Psychology (BSc Honours) degree; I have a Post Grad Diploma in Education (PGDE) Primary; and, I am a qualified mountain bike guide (MBLA Level 2).

    I combine all of this knowledge and experience as a Personal Development Coach for holistic growth and transformation.

  • Experience

    I have over 20 years experience working in education, starting as a class assistant back in 2003, then I became a primary teacher for 11 years, followed by a seconded role as an education support officer. I am passionate about learning and education for all. Since 2017, I have worked for a leading children’s charity supporting schools (mainly teachers and headteachers) across Scotland and the rest of the UK to embed a rights based approach, having a positive impact on children’s sense of belonging, empowerment and wellbeing. I also support the organisation with mental heath at work as wellbeing champion.

  • Coaching experience

    Having been on a personal development journey of my own for several years (see below) and experiencing life coaching first hand, I was inspired to train as a transformational life coach. I set up Mindful Routes officially in August 2021 as a Personal Development Coach for holistic growth.

    I have supported and empowered my clients to embark on a journey of self discovery and awareness to build self confidence and self esteem. I have worked with world level athletes on mindset, confidence and wellbeing. I have supported clients through work/life choices to establish desired balance. I have empowered clients to take ownership of their life and set targets to achieve their goals while others have simply found gratitude and joy in their current life, just by working on the relationship with themselves.

    With some reflection on the past, I work on shifting mindsets, enabling positive thought patterns to tackle life’s challenges and to make meaningful and sustainable positive changes in people’s lives to ultimately improve their relationships, overall wellbeing and their outlook on life and the world around them.

My own personal development journey

My own personal development journey started consciously with a mindfulness course in 2014 in recognition that I felt anxious, unsettled and lacking direction. A series of challenges in my life including childhood trauma, a significant break up, challenging family dynamics and the bereavement of a friend who took his own life, led me to seek different forms of therapy such as psychotherapy, integrative counselling and some cognitive based therapy (CBT) as well as using meditation and breathwork to support healing.

All therapies have had an important place in my life but when I started to work with life coaches (since March 2020), this is where transformation started to happen. I invested in myself, I started to look towards the future I wanted to focus on a life with more confidence rather than a past that was no longer serving me. My mindset started to shift and I started to see alternative perspectives more clearly. With support, I started to build self love and respect and ultimately my overall wellbeing and outlook on life has changed. I strengthened the relationship with myself first a foremost - this enhanced all the relationships around me.

Having a coach helped to validate my past but more importantly coaches have supported my journey of growth to make positive sustainable changes in my life, aligned to my core values and how I want to live my life authentically. Do I always get it right?! Absolutely not, but I am curious about the triggers, I continue to grow, trusting that I now have the tools to self soothe. I am now able to embrace my imperfections and I strive to be the best version of myself. And the best bit is, I love supporting and empowering others on their journey too. My intention is to inspire you and motivate you to take small steps towards the changes you desire AND deserve in your life.
